Tropical cyclone Nargis, packing 190-kilometre-per-hour winds, made landfall in Irrawaddy Burma on May 2, 2008, causing catastrophic destruction across five provinces. Over 23,000 people are confirmed dead, thousands of people are still missing and many more homeless.
